OtherHalf exists to help people find a genuine partner. This Acceptable Use Policy sets out what is not allowed on the platform and what happens when someone breaks these rules. It applies to everything you do on OtherHalf — your profile, your photos, your stories, and your messages — and it forms part of our Terms of Service.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Reports inside the app reach our moderation team, not the police.
Section 01Age requirement
- OtherHalf is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We verify date of birth at signup and refuse accounts below 18.
- Minors are not permitted on the platform in any capacity. If we become aware that an account holder is under 18, the account is removed.
- Misrepresenting your age to gain access is grounds for permanent removal.
Section 02Zero-tolerance categories
The following have no place on OtherHalf under any circumstances. Violations in these categories result in immediate permanent removal, and where the law requires or permits it, referral to law enforcement:
- Child sexual exploitation or abuse. Any content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor, and any attempt to solicit or groom a minor. We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), consistent with our reporting obligations under applicable law.
- Sexual violence and sexual exploitation. Content or behavior that depicts, threatens, promotes, or celebrates sexual assault or coercion, or that pressures another user into sexual activity.
- Non-consensual content. Sharing or threatening to share intimate images of any person without their consent (including so-called "revenge porn"), and recording or sharing private interactions without consent.
- Human trafficking and sex trafficking. Any facilitation of trafficking, commercial sexual services, escort services, or prostitution — including advertising, solicitation, or recruitment. OtherHalf may not be used to buy or sell sexual services of any kind.
- Violence and dangerous organizations. Credible threats of violence, incitement, or the promotion of violent extremism.
Section 03Prohibited content
Whether in a profile, a story, or a chat, you may not post or share content that is:
- Sexually explicit. Profile photos, stories, and profile text must not contain nudity or sexually explicit material. OtherHalf is not a platform for sexual content, and profiles are visible to people you have not matched with.
- Illegal, or that promotes or facilitates illegal acts — including the sale of drugs, weapons, or counterfeit goods.
- Hateful. Content that attacks or demeans people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or serious disease.
- Harassing, threatening, defamatory, or abusive toward any person.
- Someone else's private information — messages, photos, contact details, or profile content shared outside the app without their explicit consent. Sharing the anonymised profile card the app itself generates (no photo, first initial only, no location) is allowed; adding the person's name, photo, or any identifying detail to it is not.
- Infringing on another party's intellectual property or privacy rights.
Section 04Prohibited behavior
- Impersonation and misrepresentation: using false identity information, someone else's photos, or pretending to be another person. Photo verification exists so people can prove their photos are really them.
- Harassment: stalking, intimidating, or continuing to contact someone who has asked you to stop. Unmatching and blocking must be respected.
- Attempting to take conversations off-platform to evade moderation, or pressuring users for contact details they don't want to share.
- Unauthorized access: attempting to access other users' accounts, our servers, or connected systems, or probing the service for vulnerabilities without authorization.
- Automation: using bots, scrapers, or other automated systems to access the app, create accounts, or interact with users.
- Manipulation of the platform: exploiting the matching system, referral program, or any app feature for purposes other than genuine personal connection.
Section 05Scams and commercial misuse
OtherHalf may not be used to defraud, deceive, or make money from other users. This includes:
- Romance scams: building a relationship under false pretenses to solicit money, gifts, financial information, or anything of value.
- Financial solicitation of any kind: asking other users for money, loans, donations, or investment — including cryptocurrency schemes and "get rich quick" offers.
- Spam and commercial messaging: advertising, solicitation, promotion of products, services, events, or other platforms.
- Phishing: attempting to obtain other users' credentials, financial details, or personal information.
Section 06How we enforce this policy
- Every profile and every chat has report and block controls. Reporting someone also blocks them and removes the match immediately — you never have to keep talking to someone while we review.
- Reports are reviewed by a human. Reported content is preserved while a report is on file, so deleting it does not hide the evidence.
- Consequences scale with severity: content removal, warnings, restrictions, suspension, or permanent ban. The zero-tolerance categories in Section 2 skip straight to permanent removal.
- Enforcement records survive account deletion — deleting an account does not erase its moderation history, and banned phone numbers are refused re-registration for the duration of the ban.
- Appeals: if you believe an enforcement decision was wrong, you can appeal it through the app or by emailing support@otherhalf.love.
- Law enforcement: where the law requires or permits, we refer violations to law enforcement and cooperate per our Law Enforcement Guidelines.
Section 07Reporting a violation
- In the app: use the report option on any profile or chat, or press and hold a specific message to report it. You can also shake your phone to file a report with a screenshot attached.
- By email: support@otherhalf.love.
- Reports are confidential — the person you report is not told who reported them.
OtherHalf is intended for users 18 years of age and older. This policy works together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
